Updates

February 12th, 2012
Multiple course testers have been getting out and verifying that we do indeed have enough snow to make for an enjoyable event. However, the conditions are 'interesting' - as always, be ready for anything!

The Nordic Center is maxed out on their rentals, so please make sure you have your own plans if you haven't secured a reservation with them yet.

We're going to officially close registration in a week on the 17th, although a well-crafted email with bribes involving yummy food may still get you in the door. However, we may just not have a shirt in your specific size after that point.

We're up to 27 teams representing ten states, plus Canada and France. The early registration period has ended so registration rates have been adjusted accordingly. We know that many of you are experiencing a fairly snow-free winter, but there is definitely snow at the higher elevations at Bolton and you'll get your winter experience!

The Nordic Center at Bolton has a limited number of skis and snowshoes available to rent; give them a call to reserve your gear. However, you may be better served by picking up your gear from a location close to you rather than relying on something from the Nordic Center that you can't check out ahead of time. For those nearby Burlington, you can look into getting gear from either the South Burlington EMS or Outdoor Gear Exchange.

As far as lodging goes, we recommend you stay at either the Bolton Valley Resort or at the Black Bear Inn. Otherwise you'll be traveling up the road to the resort the morning of the race, which can be a significant challenge if we get a great deal of fresh snow. Four wheel drive will be in asset in that case.

Please continue to reach out to us with any questions.

This year's Frigid Infliction will take place on March 3rd, 2012. Registration will open mid-November; we'll keep you posted. The race will return to the Bolton Valley Resort again and we'll be having dinner at the same location as last year, The Ponds. We expect lots of snow, a great course, hundreds (maybe thousands!) of great photos, and an epic wintertime adventure! More details to come. Graham already has his craftiness in full gear, as he continues his quest for the rare Vermont snow nettle. Consider yourself warned!
